1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using SideStream (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms. For significant changes, we will notify you via the App or email.

These Terms apply to all versions of SideStream, including the Android app (package: com.sidestream.finance) and any future iOS app.

2. What SideStream Is

SideStream is a personal income tracking tool. It helps you manually log and visualise income from multiple sources. It is expressly:

• Not a bank, financial institution, or licensed financial adviser
• Not connected to your bank accounts or financial services
• Not a replacement for professional financial, tax, or legal advice
• Not a certified accounting or bookkeeping tool

All data you enter is self-reported. SideStream does not verify, validate, or audit financial information. Any figures displayed in the App are based solely on data you have manually entered.

3. Your Account

• Eligibility: You must be at least 16 years old to use SideStream. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement.
• Accurate information: You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date.
• Account security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your login credentials. Do not share your account with others. Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.
• One account per person: Each person may only maintain one active account. Creating multiple accounts to exploit free tier limits is prohibited.
• Account suspension: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice, at our sole discretion.

4. Free & Premium Tiers

SideStream operates on a freemium model. Here's what each tier includes:

Billing and Subscriptions

• Premium subscriptions are billed monthly through Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS), at the price displayed at the time of purchase.
• Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
• You may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will retain Premium access until then.
• Refunds are subject to the refund policies of Google Play or the Apple App Store.
• Prices may change from time to time. We will provide advance notice of any price changes.

Free Trial

Where a free trial is offered, it is available once per person. Using multiple accounts or device fingerprints to access multiple free trials is prohibited and may result in account termination.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use SideStream only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms. You agree not to:

• Use SideStream for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App or its underlying code
• Share your account credentials with others or allow third parties to access your account
• Create multiple accounts to circumvent free tier limits or access additional free trial periods
• Use automated scripts, bots, or other means to access or interact with the App
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the App, its servers, or any related systems
• Use the App to track income from illegal activities
• Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our services
• Upload or transmit any malicious code, viruses, or harmful content

Violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.

6. Intellectual Property

SideStream and all its content, features, and functionality — including but not limited to the App's design, text, graphics, logos, icons, and code — are owned by SideStream and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

• Your data: You retain full ownership of all data you enter into SideStream. We claim no ownership over your financial records, income entries, or goal data.
• License to use: We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use SideStream for your personal, non-commercial income tracking purposes, subject to these Terms.
• Restrictions: You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App or its content, nor may you reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the source code.

7. Data & Privacy

Your use of SideStream is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using SideStream, you consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for ensuring that any data you enter into SideStream is accurate and does not infringe the rights of any third party.

8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

Disclaimer of Warranties

SideStream is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that:

• The App will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free at all times
• Any errors or defects in the App will be corrected
• The App is free from viruses or other harmful components
• The data you enter or view in the App is accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SideStream and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Inaccuracies in your tracked data or any financial decisions made based on App data
• Loss of data due to technical issues, App outages, or account termination
• Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
• Any unauthorised access to or disclosure of your data

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim, or AUD $20, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations on liability. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SideStream and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law or the rights of a third party.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to SideStream at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Reasons for termination may include, but are not limited to, violation of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or extended periods of inactivity.

You may stop using the App at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, email [email protected].

Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, indemnification, and governing law) will continue to apply.

11. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes via the App or by email. Your continued use of SideStream after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

If you do not agree with any changes, your only recourse is to stop using the App and delete your account.

12. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the App will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.
